Private White VC
biography:
British menswear label Private White V.C. offers a capsule wardrobe with a heritage feel designed to meet the needs of the contemporary man who is after style and functionality.
Cooper & Stollbrand, the Manchester based manufacturer of Private White V.C. was recently the focus of Channel 4 documentary that followed the everyday life of one of the last UK clothing factories. The outstanding craftsmanship of the Cooper & Stollbrand skilled workers is responsible for the new Private White V.C. collection which is a natural evolution from the previous Autumn/Winter range.
Designer Nick Ashley has developed garments that are machine washable and don’t need to be dry cleaned, saving a considerable amount of time and money to the modern working man.
The new lightweight double breasted belted trench is a natural run on from the hugely popular Great Coat and the navy SB4 jacket is a sharp take on the classic mac Among the key pieces there is the A1 bomber jacket which stays true to Private White VC’s commitment to design innovation in its use of the Ventile fabric – the revolutionary breathable and waterproof fabric, initially developed in WWII, is used to create a timeless and stylish jacket that would have easily made its way to Steve McQueen’s wardrobe.
Subtle tweaks to the parka jacket mean the new Private White VC version of this classic jacket is a navy blue two in one functional piece, with the detachable lining making it the perfect transitional piece from summer to the winter months.
Originally introduced for the British Army to wear in the tropical regions, the Private White VC ‘Shacket’ is a hybrid between a shirt and a jacket - a shirtweight fabric was needed in the extremely hot weather but the formality of a jacket was essential to keep a certain level of formality amongst troops.
