Cherchbi
biography:
British accessory label Cherchbi launches for AW’11 with a collection of hand crafted bags made from Herdwyck No.10, a new exclusive woollen tweed copyrighted by the brand.
CHERCHBI began with an idea to produce bags using wool from the ancient rare-breed Herdwick. The fleece is considered almost worthless and often burned, yet Herdwicks have a 1,000-year heritage and worthy reputation as Britain’s hardiest mountain sheep.
Herdwyck No.10 is a pure wool original tweed, its colour and texture derived from the distinctive fleece - spinning is slowed down to give the yarn greater strength; this is densely woven and bonded with natural rubber to cotton lining. The result is a unique and naturally robust, waterproof woollen tweed.
Cherchbi modern designs are inspired by utilitarian classics with simple details pared down to their essence. All bags are made entirely in Britain combining waterproof Herdwyck No. 10 tweed with CHERCHBI British saddle leather and utilise traditional leatherwork and saddlery techniques.
Key styles in the 13 piece capsule collection include the Black Sail Rucksack, perfect for a daily bicycle ride to work in style and comfort, a selection of holdalls for the elegant weekend getaway and sleek laptop and iPad sleeves. Also in the range, the Library Tote, an ideal bag to carry all you documents and a satchel style available in 3 sizes.
